JUROR: Akili Tommasino is a curatorial assistant at The Museum of Modern Art, New York and doctoral candidate in History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University, where he earned his MA and BA. An advocate of emerging artists and scholar of the twentieth-century avant-garde, Tommasino has organized and collaborated on numerous exhibition projects at institutions including the Centre Pompidou – Musée national d’art moderne, Paris and National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. He is the curator of 2017 MoMA exhibition Projects 107: Lone Wolf Recital Corps.

Exhibition Dates: August 2 – 27, 2017.
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 5 from 6-9 PM.
Deadline for Submission: April 30, 2017.
Entry Fee: 35.00 for up to 6 images.

Eligibility: Artists living in the United States who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video.

Media: Works made of, on or about paper: cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, prints, photography, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, installation.

Liability: All material will be handled with the utmost care. b.j. spoke gallery does not carry art insurance and will not be responsible for the loss or damage of your art.

Publicity: If selected, images of your art and your name will be used for any or all PAPERWORKS 2017 publicity including; the b.j. spoke gallery website, social media accounts, press release, and print.

Instructions: Installation pieces must be installed and removed by the artist. All work must be framed and wired and/or display-ready. Use plexiglass only – no glass for any shipped work. Artists are responsible for shipping their own work to and from b.j. spoke gallery for the PAPERWORKS 2017 exhibition.

Notifications: The juror’s results will be emailed by May 30, 2017. A return confirmation of participation is required by Monday, June 5th, to hold a spot in the spot in the exhibition
