I work with a sense of curiosity, propelled forth by a desire to explore how an intuitive vision might appear if materialized through my medium’s diaphanous fabric. I am aware of a kind of “aliveness,” a sentient energy which infuses my work at a certain point in its process.
The porous quality of my wire-mesh material exposes a sense of unification between the artwork and its surrounding space. I appreciate this medium’s ability to enable a kind of metaphysical perception of interconnectedness, embodying and epitomizing the exact juncture where we are as a culture. We may choose to spring into unity and a brighter consciousness, or confront a stark alternative.
My current series, “Light Expanding” presents canvas-like works which integrate fields of open space. Background walls shine forth through these structures, commanding equal importance with each image’s outer surface. Luminous forms appear to expand as they emanate light and resonant shadow.
