Kevin Larkin: Tipping Point/ Recent Paintings and Collages

The tipping point is the point at which a series of small changes or incidents become significant enough to cause a larger, more important change.

Philip Guston said “ painting seems like a kind of particular miracle that I need to have again and again.” 

I paint from the unconscious, non-rational side of myself, it comes out in images expressing more than reality. I use abstraction as a means of permitting the discovery of unexpected associations and meanings in my work. In the end there is freedom in painting whatever image has the most urgency. 

I’ve never been content to repeat a successful formula, and always pushing myself, taking new risks.
