My work questions and reflects a banal stigmatization of addiction and mental illness within domestic spaces and American culture. Through drawing, printmaking, collage, painting, and sculpture, I examine and manipulate commonplace items and familiar spaces. By altering the representation of routine visuals, I challenge traditional values and customs of American consumerism. Accomplishments (No Returns) is a collection of observation drawings that depict used and replaceable items in simply constructed shadow boxes. Ubiquitous objects within the artist’s dwelling space become reflections of personal value and worth during moments of isolation. The mundane is individually cared for through delicate rendering, then presented in a rigid grid for categorization of form and function
