Maura Falfan

Initially trained as a photographer, my interest in the concept of the vestige was central to my artistic research. Overtime, this concept morphed into the idea of the ineffable and its possibility of manifestation through painting. For more than a decade I have developed what I call Interior Landscapes. These visually textured and layered monochromatic works represent my obsessive push to accentuate what I experience as the sensual but tragic nature of painting. By assuming painting as the most direct and immediate way to express something that stems from as an obscure and indecipherable feeling, I am able to bring forth works that I hope will emanate a mysterious beauty.
