The Art of Song will feature three Long Island Singer- Songwriters
Barbara Ponella, Marian Mastrorilli and Josie Bello – presenting their songs in the round. All three are experts at telling stories and creating images through song and have a presence on the local and regional music scene as solo artists as well as with their bands.  The Art of Song will be performing at.spoke gallery on Saturday, October 19th from 8:00-10:00pm.

Barbara Ponella’s songwriting and vocals, reminiscent of Lucinda Williams, reflect an authentic impulse to explore the depths and challenges of life. Her lyrics embrace universal themes related to inner conflict, and her music brings hope that it’s never too late to take a leap of faith and embrace the result. Her songs are truthful, relatable statements about the basic human need to be loved and understood.

Marian Mastrorilli is an award-winning songwriter who has been compared to Dar Williams and Shawn Colvin. Her songs are uniquely satisfying both musically and lyrically and focus on personal and relationship-driven topics like
heartbreak and love, as well as on her fondness for the beach and outer space. She has written and produced two highly successful CD’s (Light this Candle, Down to Earth) for her band Project Mercury.  For more on Marian, visit her

Josie Bello’s songwriting and vocals have been compared to Mary Chapin Carpenter and Brandi Carlile. Her first CD, Can’t Go Home, released earlier this year, was met with favorable reviews from local and regional bloggers and press. Her songs tell stories that reflect topics related to the human condition including love, infidelity, drug addiction and loss. Tracks from Can’t Go Home have been added to over 100 American and European radio playlists. Her album and several singles have placed in the top 50 National Roots Rock Charts.
