In her upcoming solo exhibit Meditations in Paint and Pixels, Katherine Criss introduces new art, including a challenging series of mural-size abstractions. In this new body of work, she has experimented with the impact size has on images. She expresses her artistic message through surrealism which allows her to examine subconscious significances of imagery, and explore the effect of unexpected juxtapositions of subjects. When successful, she has created art that has a clear concept, speaking to the viewer without words. Katherine states, “Living inspires and challenges me as it fills me with questions.”
In this exhibit, “Meditations in Paint & Pixels,” visitors will find three bodies of work. The window will display 5 oil on canvas relationship paintings. The second gallery room visitors can view six mixed media unstretched canvases, hanging free aka a flag. There are three abstractions stemming from photographs I captured when I was out walking. The other three murals are surreal in subject matter. Mural-size is 54” x 24” … custom sizes available upon request. On view from October 1- 27, 2019.
Join us at the Opening Reception, Saturday, October 26th from 6-9pm. Live music and refreshments.
